Wine
Climbing Wines are sourced from Australia's most exciting new winegrowing region. Situated at the foot of Mount Canobolas, Orange lies in the centre of a very rich agricultural area and is uniquely classified by both geographical and altitudinal boundaries. Located 250km west of Sydney on the slopes of the Great Dividing Range, the Orange Geographical Indicator (GI) begins at 600 metres with vines planted up to 1,100 metres altitude.
Orange is noted for intense sunlight, mild, clear days and extremely cool nights, resulting in wines of bright fruit flavour, beautifully balanced between intensity and elegance. Sourced from the highest parts of the Rolling vineyard, Climbing Wines are expertly crafted by internationally renowned winemaker Debbie Lauritz and the wine style is best described as "... a mix of the classic European varietal definition; elegant, defined bright varietal fruit flavours in an Australian context as they are also full and intense."
The Climbing name is an active reference to the high elevation vineyard from which the fruit is sourced. The label imagery evokes the adventurous character of a region dominated by the challenging peaks of the extinct volcano, Mount Canobolas. The label's unique packaging won a silver medal in the 2005 Wine and Spirit International Design Awards.
