The launch of Frizzell wines in 2009 was the realization of a long-held desire for renowned New Zealand artist Dick Frizzell.
After returning from Auckland to live in Hawke's Bay, Frizzell was fascinated by the growth and diversity of the local wine industry and captivated by the similarities of the art and wine worlds.
Having made the decision to launch an eponymous wine range, Frizzell was determined to ensure that his wine would be regarded more than a simple design exercise. To ensure quality across his range he enlisted the help of friend and winemaker Rod McDonald - a winner of the New Zealand Winemaker of the Year title. Together they are committed to producing generous, rewarding wines that reflect the best of New Zealand's major wine regions.
Since inception Frizzell wines have attracted significant media interest for their distinctive packaging and small batch, limited edition focus. The initial range is soon to be extended with a Reserve selection.
